Policy version 2026.08
Student Enrolment Terms & Conditions
These terms are designed to be read with the written enrolment confirmation, Code of Conduct, Privacy Policy and Refunds & Cancellations Policy. If there is an inconsistency, mandatory law applies first, then the written enrolment confirmation for intake-specific details.
Plain-language summary
The important points.
- Acceptance is invite-only; a funded seat is assigned only after the required form and verified payment conditions are satisfied.
- The program fee is A$5,000 AUD: pay in full or choose A$2,000 upfront plus ten weekly A$300 instalments.
- The program is private skills training, not a nationally recognised qualification or apprenticeship.
- Students receive procedural fairness for disciplinary decisions and retain all non-excludable consumer rights.
The summary helps navigation but does not replace the full policy below.
1. Parties and when the agreement begins
You are the student named in the enrolment form. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must also acknowledge the enrolment. The provider is the legal entity identified in the written enrolment confirmation or invoice and trading as The Guild of Master Barbers.
Submitting a form allows us to assess your application. A binding enrolment agreement begins only when we confirm acceptance in writing and provide the intake, fee and provider details. No place is guaranteed before that point.
2. Program status and outcomes
The 12-Week Professional Barber Program is private, non-accredited skills training unless the written enrolment confirmation expressly says otherwise. It is not a nationally recognised qualification, apprenticeship or traineeship and The Guild does not represent itself as an RTO for this program.
The program is designed to develop practical technique, professional habits and confidence. Individual progress varies. We do not guarantee completion, employment, income, clientele, business results or that the program alone meets legal requirements for paid work. Students should check current NSW requirements independently.
3. Fees and payment
- The program fee is A$5,000 AUD and The Guild absorbs card processing fees. The accepted payment schedule, tax wording and inclusions are recorded in the numbered invoice.
- The payer may choose A$5,000 upfront or A$2,000 upfront followed by ten weekly instalments of A$300 beginning at cohort start. Card instalments may be automatic or payer-initiated; bank transfers count only after Staff verify the funds.
- Verified extra payments satisfy the oldest amount due and then credit future instalments, allowing early payoff. A funded seat is assigned only when the required upfront amount is verified and cohort capacity remains available.
- An overdue automatic card charge retries after days 1, 3 and 6. At seven full Sydney calendar days overdue, only lesson pages, checklist actions and attached lesson resources are restricted; classes, attendance, payments, documents, announcements, messages, profile and final-practical records remain available.
- Verified payment restores lessons automatically when the account becomes current. Refunds are never automatic and require a Staff decision, but nothing in this process removes a right or remedy under consumer law.
4. Delivery, schedule and reasonable changes
Training is intended to be delivered over 12 weeks in a working barbershop environment in Pyrmont, Sydney, according to the accepted intake details. Class size, training days, trainer allocation and lesson sequence may vary.
We may make reasonable changes for safety, trainer availability, venue operations, public health, student needs or educational quality. We will give reasonable notice where practical and will not materially reduce the agreed service without offering an appropriate remedy. Material cancellation or rescheduling is handled under the Refunds & Cancellations Policy.
5. Attendance, participation and completion
- Attend on time, notify us as soon as possible about an absence and complete the required lesson checklist cards and observed final practical.
- Follow reasonable Staff instructions and participate only in tasks for which you have been briefed and authorised.
- Completion requires all mandatory lesson cards approved, a final practical marked competent, at least 80% satisfied attendance, a fully paid balance and final Staff review. The resulting Guild certificate is explicitly non-accredited.
- An excused attendance record satisfies the requirement. Staff decide whether a late arrival counts. A completed linked make-up can satisfy the missed requirement without erasing the original absence.
6. Practical safety
Barber training can involve prolonged standing, close client contact, chemicals, hot or electrical equipment, clippers, scissors and razors. Students must follow hygiene, infection-control and work health and safety instructions and immediately report hazards, cuts, injuries or adverse reactions.
The platform does not store medical or accessibility profiles. Contact Guild Staff directly before participating if a private safety discussion is needed. The Guild may pause a specific activity where there is an immediate safety risk while practical alternatives are considered outside the platform.
7. Code of Conduct and discipline
Students must follow the Code of Conduct accepted during enrolment, including standards for respectful behaviour, client and model care, consent, hygiene, tools, property, impairment, recording and social media.
Conduct investigations and case material are kept outside the platform. The platform records only a resulting suspension or termination status, effective dates and an auditable reason. Responses should be proportionate, provide appropriate fairness and remain subject to the Complaints & Appeals Policy.
8. Clients, models, photos and recordings
- Perform only services authorised and supervised by Guild Staff and obtain appropriate client or model consent.
- Do not secretly photograph or record anyone. Do not publish identifiable client, model, student or staff content without permission.
- An enrolment or attendance consent does not give The Guild permission to use a student’s identifiable image, voice or work in public advertising. Marketing use requires a separate, voluntary release.
9. Portal, learning materials and student submissions
Portal access is personal and may be used only for the enrolled student’s learning. Course materials may not be shared, resold, recorded or republished without permission. Reasonable personal study use is permitted.
Students retain ownership of original submissions. The Guild may store, reproduce and share submissions internally with authorised Staff only as needed to deliver, review and administer the program, subject to the Privacy Policy.
10. Withdrawal, deferral, cancellation and refunds
Student withdrawal, requested deferral, Guild cancellation, missed sessions and refund requests are handled under the Refunds & Cancellations Policy. That policy is part of these terms. It does not limit rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
11. Suspension or termination by The Guild
We may suspend or end enrolment for serious or repeated misconduct, material safety risk, fraud, unlawful activity, persistent non-payment of an agreed amount, or a substantial breach that is not remedied after reasonable notice where notice is appropriate.
We will consider the circumstances, proportionality, services already supplied, reasonable loss and mandatory consumer rights when determining any financial outcome. We will not impose a blanket forfeiture that exceeds what the law and the contract permit.
12. Consumer guarantees and liability
Our services come with consumer guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law, including that services will be provided with due care and skill and be reasonably fit for a disclosed purpose where the law applies. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights or remedies.
To the extent permitted by law, each party remains responsible for loss caused by its own acts or omissions. Any limitation is read subject to non-excludable rights and is not intended to exclude liability where exclusion would be unlawful.
13. Complaints, changes and governing law
Raise a concern with Guild Staff or email hello@theguildofmasterbarbers.com. The Complaints & Appeals Policy explains the process. We may update these standard terms prospectively, but a material change to an accepted student’s agreement requires notice and cannot remove accrued rights without agreement or lawful basis.
These terms are effective from 30 August 2026 and governed by New South Wales law. If a term is unenforceable, it is read down or severed to the minimum extent necessary.
